What Piano Pieces I’m Working On
Hello, it’s time for a bit of accountability.
In 2024, I started working on some Grade 7 pieces. I like to set myself an A, B and C piece from the ABRSM piano grades to work on.
2024 was also the most stressful year of my life due to moving house. It was a long process; we pulled out of one house and had a lot of stress, so I lost all motivation for the piano. I’ve struggled to get back into it ever since.
Over the past week, I’ve been getting back into the piano. I’ve started some new pieces, but there are so many pieces I’ve half done, which I would love to finish and record, then move on to some Grade 8 pieces.
So here’s what I’m currently working on, and the pieces I’d like to return to and record.
Current work in progress
Schumann Sonata in G Major
Not a grade 7 piece, probably more a grade 5, but I wanted to work on something a bit longer, as I struggle with longer pieces. I’ve always wanted to do a full Sonata and bar by bar, this feels easy. It’s the stamina to do all movements. I’m currently working on the first movement. It’ll be a long-term product as there are four movements altogether.
Schumann grade 7 ABRSM untitled piece (B1)
I’ve been working on this piece for a while now, but then stopped practising. There are some parts I need to drill down on, but this will probably be the first thing I’m able to record.

This is the Grade 7 B3 piece. I started the first page a few weeks ago, then stopped. This will probably take me the longest to learn
Grade 7 Pieces to come back to
There are some pieces I worked on but never actually recorded, so I’d love to come back to them and get them filmed so I can add them to my YouTube library.
Allegro moderato – Haydn
I got the first three pages of this one done, then I burnt out. The A pieces are always the hardest for me so it’s important that I do at least one piece from the A list, or I’ll end up with all B pieces!

Mazurka in A minor – Chopin
I really could have filmed this, I really struggled with the trills though!!!
At The Evening Window – Freidlin
I could have probably filmed this one as well if I had carried on; I was close to finishing this one! Hopefully, it won’t take too long to get up to speed.
Einaudi
There are also three Einaudi pieces that I could probably film pretty soon if I put my mind to it. I usually play Einaudi to chill out to, as it’s quite simple and repetitive, but fun to be expressive with.
